This is a weird book, and I think it’s relatively hard to find. It’s interesting that it’s autobiographical, because the tone seems deliberately alienating and it’s hard to truly relate to the main character. On the other hand, it does a terrific job portraying how horrific OCD as an illness really is. Binky Brown Meets the Virgin Mary is a very short graphic novel about a young man’s struggles with scrupulosity. It’s hard to find good books about OCD and this gives a realistic portrayal of what the illness is like and how debilitating it is, specifically when it goes hand-in-hand with religion. I think if you can get ahold of a copy of this book, it would make a good companion read with the memoir Triggered by Fletcher Wortmann.
