Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Animal Characters (Real and Fantasy)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is favorite animal characters from literature. Magical creatures are also welcome!

1. The bull terrier from The Incredible Journey

Definitely an endearing dog. Even though we’re definitely a mutt family I’d like to get a bull terrier someday.

2. Ivan from The One and Only Ivan

I like Bob too but Ivan is number #1 IMO.

3. Good Boy from Snapdragon

I don’t know if this dog is fucked-up looking or adorable. Either way, he makes an impression.

4. S.T. from Hollow Kingdom

Kira Jane Buxton succeeded in creating a talking crow who’s more complex and interesting than a lot of human protagonists, which is no small feat.

5. Booler from We Could Be Heroes

Booler is one awesome pittie.

6. The Fox from Fox 8

I just want to give this little guy a hug. He hasn’t had an easy time of it.

7. Gareth from Time Cat

Normally I’m not a big fan of cats, but I’d be happy to travel through time with Gareth.

8. Enzo from The Art of Racing in the Rain

This book has some problems, but Enzo’s soulful voice still appealed to me.

9. Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes

I know, he’s a stuffed tiger, but it’s my list and I’m putting him here.

10. Martha from Martha Speaks

I loved these books as a kid. Martha is like a kid with no filter and that’s something I’ve always been able to relate to.
